psoriasis scales on elbow

Psoriasis

This skin condition is characterized by excessive skin cell growth causing them to build up into thick and inflamed patches of skin. Patients with a genetic predisposition are more at risk of developing this condition. While there is currently no cure for psoriasis, our dermatologists have the expertise to help manage your symptoms.

Eczema & Dermatitis on elbow

Eczema & Dermatitis

This particular condition is a collection of skin diseases that cause scaly or dry patches of skin. Our dermatologists will provide you a unique treatment plan that is based on your medical history and eczema type. Most plans involve topical creams, oral medications, injectable mediation, or light therapy.

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. This type of cancer develops on the skin heavily exposed to the sun. Basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma are the three main types of skin cancer seen in patients. Similar to most cancers, early detection allows for a better chance at successful treatment.

You also play an important role in finding skin cancer that is why we encourage our patients to do regular skin examinations to see if they notice any suspicious changes in their skin. If you have been diagnosed with skin cancer, our team of experts will counsel you on the best treatment options for eliminating cancer as well as the appropriate timeframe for routine follow-ups.

Symptoms

Since most skin cancers develop on visible parts of the body there is a higher chance of catching them. Below are a few symptoms to look out for when examining your skin:

  • Unusual skin growths
  • Scaly or crusty lesions
  • Red or itchy patches
  • Changing or growing moles
  • Brown or black lesions

Treatment and Removal

Precancerous lesions and skin cancer treatment will vary depending on the stage, size, and location of the lesion. Treatment options can include cryosurgery, topical chemotherapy, electrodesiccation and curettage, surgical excision, or radiation.  If the cancer is further along, then surgical procedures or radiation therapy may be used to eliminate the skin cancer cells. Our dermatologists will follow up with any questions you have regarding symptoms or treatments to prepare you for future consultation.
